Key Facts
⚡ Quick Answer
Why are my gaming chair wheels scratching the floor?

Most gaming chairs ship with hard plastic casters that flat-spot and crack after 1–2 years. The exposed hard edge then scratches flooring. Replacing with PU (polyurethane) casters solves this permanently — the soft PU coating will not scratch hardwood, laminate or tile.

Signs your gaming chair wheels need replacing

The fix: replace with PU casters

Standard gaming chair casters are made from hard nylon or plastic. They wear quickly, flat-spot under load, and scratch floors. PU (polyurethane) replacement casters have a soft outer layer that rolls smoothly on all floor types without causing damage.

How to replace gaming chair wheels — 5 minutes, no tools

Total time: under 5 minutes. Tools required: none.

  1. Tilt the chair on its side to access the five wheel sockets.
  2. Pull each old caster straight out — they are friction-fit, no screws. A firm pull is all it takes.
  3. Press each new PU caster into the socket until it clicks into place.
  4. Repeat for all five wheels, then stand the chair upright and roll-test.

Why not just use a chair mat?

Chair mats wear out, curl at the edges, crack in cold weather, and look cheap. A set of PU casters costs €24.90 and solves the floor-protection problem permanently — without covering your flooring or creating tripping hazards. They also roll more smoothly than dragging across a plastic mat.

Frequently asked questions

Will these wheels fit my gaming chair?+
Our casters fit any chair with a standard 11mm stem socket — approximately 95% of all gaming and office chairs, including DXRacer, Secretlab, Noblechairs, AKRacing, IKEA Markus and most others. Pull an old caster out and measure the stem diameter if unsure.
Are PU casters safe for hardwood floors?+
Yes. The polyurethane outer layer is soft enough not to scratch hardwood, laminate or tile. It is significantly gentler than the hard plastic or nylon wheels that come stock with most gaming chairs.
Do I need tools to swap the wheels?+
No tools needed. The casters push-fit into the base — pull old ones out, push new ones in. The full set of five takes under 5 minutes.
How many wheels come in the set?+
5 casters — a complete set for any standard gaming or office chair base.
My chair wheels are scratching the floor — is it the wheels or the base?+
Almost always the wheels. The base itself rarely contacts the floor. If cracks or flat spots are visible on the wheel surface, or if the wheel surface has worn through to the hard inner core, replacement will fix the scratching immediately.
How long do gaming chair wheels last?+
Standard hard plastic gaming chair wheels typically last 1–2 years before flat-spotting or cracking. PU (polyurethane) replacement casters typically last 3–5 years under similar use and are gentler on floors.
Can I use these wheels on carpet?+
Yes. PU casters roll smoothly on short-pile carpet as well as on hardwood, laminate and tile. They are floor-type universal.
